Panel d: School

Built in 1923 and extended in 1982, the school caters for the primary education of children aged between 4 and 11 years from the parishes of Landulph and Botus Fleming. At present 20 of the 71 children at the school live in Landulph.

Remarkably, the 'old' school, which is 100 metres along the road to the left from Landulph Cross, was a much smaller building and is reputed to have had 71 pupils in 1913.

It's said that 'school days are the happiest days of our lives' and that certainly appears to be the case at Landulph School, both in the playground and in the classroom.

The school building incorporates a memorial to those who lost their lives in the First World War - a striking clock(which somehow seems to strike the loudest when it's time to go home).

Everyone who drives a car in the parish has come face to face with this vehicle, usually where the lanes are at their narrowest. More than 50 of the school's children live outside of the parish, some travel to school using the bus, others travel by car.
