Sketching the Summer
Saturday 1 August 10am - 4pm
A day in the fresh air and some of the loveliest scenery in the area! And you’re invited along with your family and friends – all skill-levels, (including none!), all ages.
Bring your own stuff. An easel and watercolours are great, of course, but this is planned as a serene, relaxing and fun day for everybody to enjoy. So no need to find expensive kit – dig out your old paints, borrow the kids’, find a pencil . . .

SKETCHING THE SUMMER will follow a loosely-connected trail of four main vantage points and many tempting side-tracks in between. From Duke Orchard, with beautiful views down past the church and across Kingsmill Lake to the hills beyond, we move to the Church of St Leonard and St Dilpe for brass-rubbings, perhaps, architectural drawing and mediaeval carving. Then on to Duchess Green, the lusciously wild wide space, with secretive subjects to explore and fleeting wildlife moments to capture. If you love detailed studies, these are the places for you to record the petals, the bees and dragonflies. Finally we wander on down to Neale Point, where the pink and blue rock formations seem still to flow, where the cloudscapes reflect onto a vast and imposing expanse of river, and you can enjoy a long perspective to the Saltash bridges.
